Connecting With PickStar:

Caltex approached PickStar looking for a number of AFL legends to attract a crowd and engage with fans at their store openings at their Dry Creek and Holden Hill stores in SA, as well as the Beaufort and Horsham stores in Victoria.

Caltex contacted PickStar with a budget, brief and a tight deadline. PickStar provided an extensive list of recommended athletes, and the client picked AFL legends Darren Jarman and Kane Cornes for their South Australian events and Brian Lake and Adam Cooney for Victoria.

Just 24 hours prior to the Holden Hill event, the client contacted PickStar wanting an additional Crows legend to attend – and former superstar Tony Modra was confirmed within minutes!


The Event:

At the grand opening events, the athletes spent time mingling with fans, signing autographs, taking photos and even serving coffees!

Media were on site, picking up vision and interviews with the stars.

The events were a massive success.

After the overwhelming success of site launches in Victoria and South Australia, Caltex used PickStar to activate remaining launches around the country.

In Western Australia, West Coast Eagles star Josh Kennedy was front and centre at Caltex in Ascot, while club legend Glenn Jakovich was the face of the Stratton opening.


Rugby League legend Gorden Tallis was the most popular man in town at Ripley in Queensland, again exceeding the expectations of the client.


Back in Western Australia, Caltex engaged Matildas and A-League superstar Sam Kerr for the launch of the Jandakot site.

Many young fans were so excited to meet Sam they were in tears!

The soccer star played games, signed autographs, presented merchandise and had a whole lot of fun with the many people who attended the launch event.

For Caltex's launch in Eagleby, Queensland, Brisbane Broncos legend Corey Parker was on hand to pour coffees and hang out with fans.


Most recently, for their unveiling of the new luxurious The Foodary at Derrimut Victoria, Caltex were able to secure AFL star Matthew Lloyd. Not only did he meet and greet with local fans, but a few lucky customers were treated to a coffee made by the Bombers legend himself.
