Connecting with PickStar:

PickStar was approached by Scout Entertainment looking to secure a number of athletes for the WA Festival of Cricket exhibition match in Perth. The annual event is a huge draw card for big sporting names to come out and put on a show for cricket fans.

The inaugural match began back in 2013 in Perth where the WA Festival of Cricket wanted to provide the Western Australian public with an unforgettable sporting experience. The opportunity to see legends of the game in a relaxed and fun game of cricket is a one-of-a-kind experience and has proven to be a smash hit.

The rarity of seeing cricketing legends playing a friendly game together is unparalleled by any other Twenty20 match today. The previous four events were a sell out and 2017's match was no exception. The vibrant festival atmosphere of the event is a huge draw card for high profile punters who love a relaxed day at the cricket.

Previous legends who have graced the field include Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara, Andrew Flintoff, Herschelle Gibbs and Matthew Hayden and in 2017 that list grew.

The Event:

On the day players took part in a clinic before taking the field for the serious game. Australian pace bowler Glen McGrath started the game with an uncharacteristic wide first ball to Englishman Michael Vaughan. The World side capped their innings at 179, leaving the home side to chase with a fierce determination.

Former Australian Test batsman Adam Voges was a force to be reckoned with, hitting 41 from 27 balls as the Aussies chased down the World XI side.

They hit their target, scoring 183 with nine balls to spare, taking out the match in front of a stellar crowd.

Relive the day's play with this recap from Cricket Australia:

The day was an overwhelming success with the players enjoying the game even more than the crowd! We think the PickStar logo looks right at home the players' kits as well..
