Podcast books sports stars to attract and inspire young listeners
The Brief
Three elite female athletes to engage in a phone interview for the Girls Invent podcast series.
Solution
Girls Invent is a unique community organisation supporting young girls through a series of workshops that allow them to create their own products or businesses while still at school.
Girls Invent also motivate their young female audience to achieve their personal best through their podcast series, which features interviews with successful women from a variety of fields and discusses the challenges they faced in their careers and how they were able to overcome them.
For a series of three podcast episodes, Girls Invent came to Pickstar looking for women athletes who could empower their listeners.
Most importantly, Girls Invent were looking for women who support the mission of inspiring girls to be their best and were willing to speak openly about their lives, careers and the lessons they've learnt along the way.
Fortunately, Pickstar's marketplace includes nearly 400 successful female sports stars from a variety of codes, so the team were able to compile a list and reach out to potential talent.
Girls Invent's request was quickly picked up by hockey star Georgia Wilson, football sensation Aisling McCarthy and karate champion Michelle Wilson.
Outcome
All three podcast episodes were successful in attracting and inspiring young listeners. Each interview ran for approximately 30 minutes and the athletes were extremely open about the ups and downs of their journeys.
Specifically, Michelle gave insights into her experiences on becoming a karate champion and a mum, while Aisling discussed the factors which helped shaped her successful football career. Georgia spoke about how a strong belief in her abilities helped her overcome setbacks in her hockey career, and discussed her new business venture.
The team at Girls Invent were thrilled with the interviews and felt all three athletes were a great contribution to their podcast and overall mission.
